Black Friday Strategy

“The illiterate of the 21st century are not those that cannot write but those cannot learn, unlearn and relearn.”
-Alvin Toffler

Many of us have just finished celebrating Thanksgiving. The fanfare, hype and excitement has died down. However, despite all that we have seen one fact remains: that work must go on. The reality of work going on is a detriment to the human psyche of the 21st century. As the world embraces more trends and not truth we become more adept to doing things our own way, fostering a culture of independence rather than interdependence. This deteriorating sense of self centeredness makes us unable to respond to the most pressing human needs. Information is the new currency. Sharing is one of the greatest ways to break poverty. If one thing Thanksgiving taught me this it’s this: always celebrate life. I have spent more time with my Grandfather this week than I have in years. We only have certain gifts for a season, mark these moments.

While it is pretty obvious that we are living in changing times, don’t let that bother you. Instead, you should be excited. As a futurist, I am optimistic that these times will bring the best out of us. Now is the time for true leaders to emerge. While everyone else is doing Black Friday shopping, you should be doing Black Friday strategizing. As strategists, our goal is not just to buy things from the world but to create things for the world. The future is pregnant with possibilities waiting for true leaders to emerge. Will you be one of those leaders that will cross the threshold of the future and create what wants to emerge? Don’t settle for things that can far away tomorrow, take some and do some hard thinking. Frame Your World with your Words. Welcome to the “New” Normal.

That’s all for now.
Expect Greater!
